What did I learn from this fiasco with my first general surgeon and endocrinologist?  Well, it sad to say but you CAN NOT blindly trust your doctors.  Secondly, it is OK and recommended to get a second opinion if you are uncomfortable with your doctors....

Entry # 18 Low Iodine diet continued: It's annoying now

DAYS FOUR TO SIXTEEN

 

After about a week on the low iodine diet I got annoyed.  At work everyone would go out to lunch……I had to eat my own food.  On the weekends my wife and I visited some friends and of course we went out to dinner…..I could not eat anything.  Though, I did sip a beer....

The Otolaryngologist entered the room dressed professionally with confidence.  He was very friendly, kind and polite.  My wife and I were very pleased with him.  He basically recommended surgically removing the nodule...

Entry #25 Here Comes Hypothyroidism

It wasn’t until my second thyroid surgery that I begin taking thyroid medication.  My initial dose was 100 micrograms once per day.  This was calculated by my weight.  My TSH levels before the surgery were averaging around 0.8 uIU/ml.  After the surgery my TSH slowly began to elevate....
